With Pingpu Bridge open, Mayor Chu invites everyone to visit Shenkeng Old Street

Public Works Department, New Taipei City Government today (1/18) held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Pingpu Bridge in Shenkeng District. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu attended the ceremony and cut the ceremonial ribbon. With Pingpu Bridge inaugurated-as the first bridge crossing Jingmei River and connecting to Shenkeng Old Street-he openly invited citizens to visit Shenkeng Old Street for beautiful scenery and local delicacies.

 

Mayor Chu said the construction work for Pingpu Bridge started last February, connecting Pingpu Street in the north and Wenshan Road in the south. The bridge will expectedly relieve the traffic congestion around Shenkeng Old Street


The Public Works Department said the total cost of Pingpu Bridge is 230 billion with 83% funded from the Central Government’s “Living Perimeters Project” and the rest handled by New Taipei City Government itself. The Pingpu Bridge layout contains a 2-lane-2-way road with pedestrian walkways on its sides and a scenic deck in the center for sightseeing.
