Mayor Chu welcomes visiting Los Angeles County Mayor Micahael Antonovich

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu welcomed Mayor Micahael D. Antonovich of Los Angeles County, a sister city of New Taipei City, and Mayor Richard Sun of San Marino City, today. To enhance the cooperative relationship with New Taipei City, San Marino City signed a partnership agreement with Tamsui District in this afternoon.

Mayor Chu would like to thank Mayor Antonovich for his past twenty years of effort in continuing the relationship between Los Angeles County and New Taipei City and, furthermore, establishing the sisterhood ties between the two cities.

Mayor Antonovich said it was an honor to have Mayor Chu visit Los Angeles County in July 2011, and he is happy to be welcomed by New Taipei City during today’s visit. Both sides expressed their appreciation for meeting up again.

San Marino City Mayor Richard Sun thanked the cordial reception by New Taipei City Government, saying that their community has been eager to get to know Taiwan because their population is comprised of over 50% of Asians, predominantly Taiwanese. He would like to invite Mayor Chu to visit San Marino City for its 100th anniversary in 2013, and Mayor Antonovich added that he strongly recommended Chu to visit the famous Huntington Library in San Marino City for its beautiful Chinese garden. Answering in a good mood, Mayor Chu said he will pay a visit during summer if he has opportunities so that he can also conveniently catch some Major League Baseball games.

Accompanied by District Executive of Tamsui District, the delegation group had a tour at Tamsui. At the end of the day, Mayor Chu gave Yingge Potteries as gifts to the delegation group, who presented a certificate of gratitude and a memorial cup to Chu in return.
