Dongming Park construction starts

Construction of Dongming Park in Linkou, New Taipei City started today, and officials including New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu, Linkou District Executive Lin Yaochang, and several legislators and city councilors all attended the groundbreaking ceremony to wish good luck to the construction project.

Thanks to support and petition conducted by the city councilors, New Taipei City Government sanctioned the park construction and financed the construction cost of 17 million NT dollars through Land Administration Office. With the construction administration fully delegated to Linkou District Office, the park is expected to be complete in late December and inaugurated in January 2013.

In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Chu said Dongming Park would become the major park in Linkou District, providing citizens a cozy outdoor space. In the future, the city government would look to expand the city green space.

According to Linkou District Office, constructing plan of Dongming Park includes an in-park circular walkway, an entrance plaza, a children playground, and various outdoor recreational spaces. Upon its completion, the park combined with its nearby hospitals, National Highway No. 1, and the airport MRT station (still under construction) is expected to raise the quality of living and thus lure more people to move into Linkou, making the area more prosperous in the future.
