Mayor Chu attends Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony on Lingjiou Mountain

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu today attended the Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony on Lingjiou Mountain; Master Hsin Tao presided over today’s ceremony. At the ceremony, Mayor Chu praised that the “tranquility meditation” program promoted by the community of Lingjiou Mountain could help citizens find peace in themselves. Saying he was pleased to see the meaningful meditation program carrying on, Chu then wished for safety, harmony, and prosperity of the whole country.

Every year, the Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony attracts hundreds of thousands of followers from both inside and outside the country. The 19th iteration of Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony this year was especially held in high regard, for it was considered possessing the great religious power to calm the unsettled minds of people troubled by the many natural and manmade disasters throughout the year.

On late July of the lunar calendar, Mayor Chu showed up at Taoyuan Arena to help conduct the blessing ritual for Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony. Mayor Chu first saluted Guanyin and then chanted the Water-Earth Prayer, displaying his sincere piety.

When delivering his speech, Master Hsin Tao said the meaning of Water-Earth Repentance Ceremony is to bring compassion, order, and equality to the everyday life of people. Listening to the wisdom of Master Hsin Tao, Mayor Chu nodded in agreement.

Later, under the witness of fifty thousand followers, Mayor Chu with Master Hsin Tao lighted the lotus lantern, which, as people believe, could bring good luck to the country.
