Mayor Chu urges firms to scale up investment in Taiwan

 New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu today attends the chairman inauguration ceremony of North Industrial District Association at Sheraton Hotel. Mayor Chu at the event thanked the former and new chairman for their contribution to Taiwan’s industry. He also urges firm owners to scale up domestic investment to boost economy in Taiwan, creating a stable working environment for all workers.


The North Industrial District covers Keelung City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan County. Because the association has long been interacting with Taiwan’s government, lots of political bigwigs including vice president Wu Denyih, Taoyuan County Mayor Wu Zhiyang and many prominent firm owners and charity group leaders attended today’s ceremony.

 

When delivering his speech, Mayor Chu first thanked the association for their contribution to making of a better economic environment. Mayor Chu could not stress less about the importance of development and investment in New Taipei City and Taoyuan County, which were both considered economically powerful cities in Taiwan. Therefore, with the whole world now facing global recession, Mayor Chu urged that Taiwan’s economy could finally take a benevolent turn only if firm owners could have faith to scale up their investment in Taiwan.

 

Honorary Chairman of Kuomingtang, Wu Pohsiung in his speech said he appreciated the unyielding effort by firms and workers even during harsh economic times. He also reminded firms to talk to the government when they encounter any difficulties and problems. Finally, he wished the government and firms could work together to weather through this ongoing recession.

 

The new chairman of North Industrial District Association is 76-year-old Mr. Chin Chiahung. Through years he has been pushing for privatization of gasoline retail stations and to date there are over 2000 private gasoline stations in Taiwan thanks to his effort. In addition, he is the president of Rotary Club in Tucheng District as well as the counselor of New Taipei City police volunteers and volunteer firefighters.

 

Under the witness of all attending guests, Mr. Chin received the inauguration certificate from the former chairman Mr. Lai Wenhsiang, which symbolized a new age for the North Industrial District Association. The association would continue operating for its ultimate goal, that is, to make Taiwan’s economy better in the future.
