Si Xian Elementary School started the reconstruction

 Xinzhuang Si Xian Elementary School started the reconstruction on December 20, and Education Department said the first phase of the project will be done by August 31, 2014. Mayor Eric Chu hoped construction team could finish the project, which provides the modern schoolyard, on time as was planned.

Chu said providing better education is the government’s responsibilities and objectives. Due to the previous fiscal and economic situation of the country, the government was unable to change old schoolyards into modern ones. After decades of hard work, New Taipei City has planned a 4-year NT$5.2 billion budget for the reconstruction of the old school buildings.

Si Xian Elementary School was established in 1979, and the old schoolyard limited the school development and teaching needs. The school was happily accepted the NT$186,860,000 schoolyard reconstruction budgets from city government.

Principal Xu Yiping indicated that the reconstruction on schoolyard will fix the problem, such as old classrooms, traffic route and parking lot issues. Several facilities will be set in school, for instance, large media conference room, specialist rooms and the bio-campus, and the school will become an ideal place for children to learn.

The reconstruction is supervised by Lin Fangli Architects, and built by Yong Lian Xing Construction Co., Ltd. Si Xian Elementary School has floor area of 9,028 sq meters, and the first phase of the project is to demolish Zhoung Xiao Hall and build a new hall, including 37 classrooms and underground parking lot. The construction is predicted to be done by August 31, 2014, and then began the second phase on Ren Ai and Ming Chi Hall.

In addition, Si Xian Elementary School has obtained NT$911,080 on reconstructing the restrooms so that teachers and students can have a better restroom environment.

Former principals including Li Qinming, Yao Sulian and Zheng Yudie and city council Chen Mingyi all joined the reconstruction ceremony on December 20.
