The Christmas event lights up Citizens Plaza

 The tallest Christmas tree in Taiwan performed a splendid four minutes light show which attracted everyone’s attention on the New Taipei City Citizen Plaza.

President Ma Ying-jeou, New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu, Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-pin, city councils, legislators, celebrities and 120,000 people all participated in the 2012 Christmas Concert on December 23.

President Ma indicated that this was his second time joining the New Taipei Christmas event, and he was glad the event gets bigger and bigger every year. In addition, Ma was pleased that Mayor Chu had guided New Taipei City to become a city full of happiness after awarded the Healthy City approved by WHO, awarded Liveable Communities by UNEP and several policies on daycare centers and elder caring.

Dream & Love Christmas Procession was debuted in the afternoon, and Chu welcomed the citizens not only to participate in the procession, but also the Christmas Concert and Christmas Eve Party on Monday.


Several groups joined the procession from Fuzhong Shopping District to Citizens Plaza, such as City Government Rangers, male firefighters, New Taipei City Aboriginal Cultural Troup, Figure Skating from Xizhou Elementary School, Latin Dance Group from Beixin Elementary School, Aerobics Group from Xiude Elementary School and Samba Drum Group from Baiyun Elementary School.

During the night, the Christmas atmosphere had widespread when the roads lighted up by the lighting bulbs, and reflected with the LED Christmas tree. Christmas Concert continued last night’s happy atmosphere, singers such as Evan Yo, Lala Xu, Luan Tan A Xiang, Aska Yang, Cyndi Wang, S.H.E and Rainie Yang were invited to perform on the stage.

Tens of thousands of people scream and shout for their favorite singer’s performance. The second site which built for the concert was set on Xinzhan Road, and people could enjoy the concert through the big screen.

Tourism and Travel Department indicated that the City Plaza will held the Garden Party from 16:00 to 22:00 on December 24, and it will be separated into four different areas, with a total of 50 booths. Several celebrities such as Rachel Liang, Emi Lee, Vence, Jane Huang and church chorus were invited to perform on Christmas Eve Party. In addition, the chorus will perform a Gospel music suite to welcome everyone to live through Christmas Eve.
