Mayor Chu attended the art exhibition opening ceremony from Mr. Hong

 New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu attended opening ceremony of the art exhibition and new book publication from the former Sanchong City Mayor Hong Shuitu on January 26.

Chu said that Mr. Hong contributed to Sanchong and Xinzhuang districts a lot in the past. He is not only a great educator, but also a respectable politician and artist. The art exhibition is held to preserve the important culture assets from Sanchong District, and Chu hopes this meaningful event could attract many interested people from the arts field to take a visit.

Sanchong District Executive, Yang Yide, appreciated the support of the culture assets preservation from the Mayor. In addition, the Hong’s family has collected the paintings from Mr. Hong and shipped these fine paintings from America to Taiwan.

Mr. Hong graduated with Fine Arts Degree from National Taipei University of Education, and was the teacher and principal in Xinzhuang Elemantary School for decades. From 1951 to 1961, Hong took office as the Taipei County Councilman, and was later elected as the 4th Sanchong Town Mayor. On 1962, Sanchong Town Office had been restructured as City Office, and Hong became the 1st City Mayor in Sanchong City.

In addition, the exhibition is held at Sanchong Social and Education Center from January 24 to February 3. Director of Culture Affairs Department, Lin Chien-Chi, New Taipei City Council Speaker Chen Xingjin, City Councilor Li Yudian, and several members from schools and arts field were all joined the opening ceremony.
