New Taipei reconstructed the leisure parks in high riverbanks

 Water Resources Department, New Taipei City submitted a report about developing the leisure parks in New Taipei City at a conference on January 29. New Taipei City Mayor Chu said that he was looking forward to seeing the results of the project.

Chu indicated that the main reason the utilization rate of these high riverbanks is low in Xindian Creek, Dahan Creek and Keelung River is lack of leisure condition. In addition, the dikes around the river also affected the moving route, and lowered the citizens’ will on heading to these areas. In order to solve the problem, Chu required that Transportation Department opens the route for citizens and bicycles; Water Resources Department should decorate the dikes and turn these parks a more welcoming place.

Chu indicated that the reconstruction on these leisure parks was very important. These parks should be built and combined with the living surroundings, and meet the need of the citizens.

According to the designs from the Water Resources Department, Chu reminded the department to work these project based on the citizens’ needs.

Secretary-general Chen Shen-xian indicated that the Blue Waterway will affect the utilization rate of these high riverbanks, and it need to be promoted.

Several underway plans were mentioned in the meeting, including increasing the space of the ditches, renovation on the detention pond, upgrading the facilities, upgrading the high riverbanks and the construction on the landscape bridge.
