Chu spends the early Chinese New Year with the elders

 New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu arrived at Ren Ji Nursing Home to celebrate the early Chinese New Year with the elders on January 31.

The elders welcomed the Mayor’s visit with warm hugs and a catchy Taiwanese song. The New Year atmosphere spread quickly during these interactions.

Chu said that the elders are valuable for passing on the precious experiences to the next generations, and for making the young create a much brighter future.

In addition, Chu presented NT$20,000 for New Year’s meal, and then took a photo with the elders, giving an early Chinese New Year greeting.

Ren Ji Nursing Home is the attached institution in Taipei Ren Ji Yuan. The Nursing Home was moved from Wanhua to Tamsui for caring the disadvantaged and low-income elders in April, 1959. In 1999, the building was under reconstruction. In May, 2002, the reconstruction was done; the new building could accept 122 elders for nursing. Now the nursing home provide food, traffic service and care consultation, and it had accepted 102 elders till January 4, 2013.
