Mayor Chu participates in the Jade Emperor ritual

 On the ninth day of the first lunar month, Taoist temples would hold a Jade Emperor ritual. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu headed to Zhonghe Wuji temple to participate in the ritual and pray for good luck on both the citizens and the City.

Jade Emperor was born on the ninth day of the first lunar month, and during this day, the Chinese usually prostrate themselves, burn incense and pray for good luck. Chu not only prayed for the citizens’ luck, but also prayed for the city constructions’ luck.

Chu gave red envelopes to the citizens on the scene after finished burning the incense. After the ritual in Wuji temple, Chu headed to Guangji and Fuhe temple to give prayers and 500 red envelopes.

In addition, city councilor Liu Meifang, Jin Ruilong and Chen Jinding also participated in this traditional ritual.
