University students from the disaster area visiting NTPC

 From March 6 to 14, 30 university students living in the Tohoku Earthquake disaster area united as a visiting delegation to visit Taiwan, and expressing their gratitude for the government’s donating for 3.11 Earthquake. New Taipei City was the last stand of this tour, and NTPC Mayor Eric Chu received the crews on March 13.

Chu indicated that NTPC had been continuously keeping contact with Japan. Two years ago, the citizens of NTPC immediately held a fundraising activity when the disaster struck, and the funding approximately reached 200 million yens within less than a week. Moreover, the NTPC Fire Department also headed to the disaster area of Japan for the rescue.

Masahiko Sugita, president of the Interchange Association, Japan; led the students from several universities, including Fukushima University, Togoku University, and Miyagi University to Taiwan, and he hoped that the relationship between two countries could last, in case to help each other whenever the disaster occurred.

Mitama Yurie and Takeda Akira, the students who lived in the disaster area, presented a 20 minutes briefing to show the latest situation of the disaster area. The briefing not only shared the latest situation on reconstruction, but also shared the experience of disaster prevention.

In addition, the visiting delegation also visited other places in Taiwan, including Kaohsiung City, Pingtung City, Taichung City, and Nabtou County.
