Inauguration of dentist stations will provide care for remote residents

New Taipei City Public Health Department teamed up with R.O.C National Dentist Union to open up dentist stations in public health centers in Gongliao and Shiding District (8/1). Dental clinic will be in session from Monday to Friday, and will save the travel times for residents in the districts.

Mayor Eric Chu visited the Gongliao District’s Public Health center for inauguration. He expressed the need for medical care and resources for both the urban and remote area. The inauguration of dentist station is especially important since there were no current dental care in the area.

Mayor Chu expressed gratitude for the support from National Health Insurance Bureau, Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. National Dentist Union, New Taipei City Dentist Union, Consumers Foundation and other local supports.

According to the Public Health Department, the current population of Gongliao and Shiding Districts are 13,683 (2,534 over age 65) and 7,913 (1,458 over age 65) respectively. Most of them rely on the care provided by local public health center. However dental issues could not be addressed because there were no dentist stationed, and traveling was inevitable and inconvenient.

The new dentist stations in public health centers will definitely saves commuting time for patients. Public Health Department encourage those in need to consult and visit the dentist stations for health problems.

Legislators Qing-Hua Lee, Congressman Shi-Xiong Yan, Chairperson, Jianwen Huang, Sheng-Min Wang, and Tian-Ren Xie were among the attendance of the inauguration.
