NTPC Mayor Chu inspects the Wanan No. 36 drills

 The Wanan No. 36 drills was begun at 1:30pm to 2:00pm on May 15. New Taipei City (NTPC) Mayor Eric Chu instructed the crew members to face the drills seriously. Chu indicated that citizens should gingerly face the drills, and do well on evacuating the people and vehicles, even though this routine exercise took only half hour.

Chu noted that drills was deemed as the real war. Particularly right now the whole nation was facing an international situation, and citizens should take the drills seriously as the war is really going to happen, in order to stay calm when the disaster occurred.

Deputy Commander of the Army Zhu Yushu indicated that NTPC had done a great job preforming the drills from the past few years with its high-quality manpower and high-efficiency systems, and Zhu was glad that this time the No. 36 drills was well-prepared and carried out smoothly.

Mayor Chu visited the Disaster Response Center and listen to the presentation from the Police Station at the 9th floor of city government before the alarm issued 15 minutes ago. Chu also viewed the whole process through the video connection to inspect the alert issued by the Civil Defense Control Center and the asylum process of Haishan Elementary School.

Chu and the Vice Unification Presiding Officer headed to Xinzhan Rd. not only to inspect the Hummers and other vehicles, but also to reward the colleagues who’s on duty. The Police Station indicated that the No. 36 drills was a simulation after the disaster occurred. First, the Disaster Response Center will contact each unit to station the people; second, each unit will gather the members from Civil Defense Delegation Group and headed to Xinzhan Rd. for disaster relief.

In addition, Chu arrived at Mega City and thanked the staffs and citizens who coordinated with the drills.

The Wanan No. 36 drills had mobilized 5,572 people, three Hummers, two medium tactical wheeled vehicles, and seven other vehicles including engineering equipment vehicle, security vehicle, ambulances and police motorcycles.
