New Taipei gives young adults their homes with its multi-channels

 The housing price increased and civilians’ burdens strengthened were all common issues to all places in Taiwan, and they could only be solved by the leading of the Central Government. Urban and Rural Development Department continued to use strategies such as vitalizing usages of existing houses, expanding supply and cooperating with the private to develop for fostering multi-channels of social housing. Through continuously diligent implementation, young adults could be ensured to have housing options with reasonable price, freedom, reliability and diversity.

New Taipei City Government made the planning based on the needs of young adults, and it was predicted to offer approximately 1,252 units of youth social housing by 2017, including Yonghe Police Dependents Residential Youth Housing (by renovation), and three Youth Social Housing places (the first one by BOT with the cooperation of both public and private sectors, and the second one was Yonghe Xiulang Precinct Youth Housing (co-construction with government institution); the last was Youth Housing at Banqiao Fuzhong area and Xinzhang Lide area) to put into practice New Taipei City’s Youth Development policy of study locally, work locally and live locally.

For young adults renting a house outside and having a difficulty paying for rent, Urban and Rural Development Department not only integrated housing subsidies from the Central Government, but also offered MRT Commuter Youth Housing Rent Subsidies as well as Youth Relieved Family Formation: five-people-family Raised Subsidies. There were 700 households totally enjoying raised housing subsidies between 2012 and 2013, and the goal was to assist young adults to relieve their living burdens.

Urban and Rural Development Department, New Taipei City would continuously actively promote Youth Housing multidimensionally, and would set fostering overall development of housing rental market as its goal. It hoped to allow young adults to have a variety of renting and buying housing options, so they could live in suitable environment where they could have their own dignity. Ultimately the goals of young adults having enrichment to live, worry-free living and having a peace of mind to live could be reached.
