The Chinese New Year is fast approaching. The Police Department has begun its annual New Year Safety Watch. This year’s safety watch will begin from February 8th at 10pm and last until midnight of February 27 - a period of 20 days. New Taipei City Mayor, Dr. Chu, visited the staff and volunteers tonight. Aside from providing gifts of encouragement and extra funds for food, the mayor also expressed gratitude for their effort.

Mayor Chu said that in recent years, through the hard work and support of the volunteers in the police force, the fire department, the community watch, and the Association of the Friends of the Police Department, New Taipei City has maintained its safety and stability. He encouraged the police department, the fire department, and the citizen volunteers to work together in the New Year period to achieve the utmost results in personal safety, traffic safety, and other citizen services.

The Mayor Chu specifically thanked the police department, fire department, and the volunteer citizens for sacrificing their holidays to maintain safety and serve the citizens. He reminded everyone that the weather will be very cold during the New Year period, and all on-duty staff should take care to stay warm and ensure his or her personal well-being.

Not only was the mayor able to show appreciation to the staff, but at the last stop of Guanghui Village, the mayor and the staff shared carrot soup to warm up.
