 New Taipei Business and Economy University graduates 500 students


The New Taipei City Business and Economy University held its end-of-term commencement today, marking the end of the 5th year of its operation. City mayor, Mr. Eric Chu, was at the ceremony to join the students in a photo session. The city also invited Mr. Ben Jai as the commencement speaker, who spoke on the topic of applied Big Data. During his speech, Mayor Chu commended the students for their proactive attitude and encouraged the students to apply what they’ve learned in the industry and help make New Taipei City industries more competitive.

Mayor Chu said that the students have gone through a two-month program that required rigorous academic effort, and he commends the students for their accomplishment. The mayor thanked the industry leaders at the ceremony, and he remarked that through the collaborative effort between the government and the public sector, the city has been nationally ranked first for attracting businesses for two consecutive years. The mayor also mentioned that the commencement speech, as organized by the Economic Development Department, was a great success, and he thanked Mr. Jai for speaking from his experiences, providing the students with the latest trends, and strengthening the professional strength of New Taipei City’s industry talents. Lastly, the mayor wished a joyful graduation for all of the graduates.

Economic Development Department reports that the city government has been aggressive in helping businesses develop industry professionals. This year marks the fifth year of the Business Economic University program. This year’s program saw new majors being made available, including Biotech, Green tech, cultural/traditional products, Internet-of-Things (IOT), and Smart Value Addition; the program had a total of 500 students. This year the program took the most important topics in recent periods, such as designing IOT networks, big data, and cloud technology, and built curriculum that required applied practice of these topics. The students were able to more effectively learn by applying the knowledge. The goal of the program is that the students will take the knowledge and improve the quality or productivity of their surrounding businesses.

Economic Development Department reports that as part of the continuing effort to evelate New Taipei City’s businesses and provide innovation and transformation counseling for traditional, cultural industries, next year, 2016, the city will continue the “Business and Economy University” program to continue holding classes on the latest industrial trends.
