New Taipei Christmas City is Ready For You

New Taipei City Government is preparing for the Christmas holidays as they hosted the Christmas City press conference today (11/28) at New Taipei City Plaza. Mayor Erik Chu along with several city administrations officials rang the Christmas Bell to symbolize the start of Christmas holidays.


“Taiwan lacks the Christmas season atmosphere in the past,” according to Mayor Chu “we will be working together with Taipei City this year to build on that.” New Taipei City will be focusing on Christmas holidays while Taipei City will work on the New Year holidays. The twin cities are looking forward to build an enjoyable holiday seasons for their residents.


The series of events will span from December 16th to January 15th. Events will include carnivals, festivals, concerts and lantern events. Mayor Chu is looking forward to size up the Christmas holidays to the scale of Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and Gongliao Rock Festival. Banqiao and Fuzhong areas are decorated by lights and arts to create a Christmas atmosphere.


Department Tourism Commissioner said the city will erect a white Christmas tree that’s 33 meters tall. There will be carnivals at New Taipei City Plaza on 17 and 18th and street stomping festival at Xinmin Boulevard on 24th.
