Free Wi-Fi service in New Taipei City

“The New Taipei Free Wi-Fi service” is introduced from January 1st, 2012, where it is aimed at making New Taipei City a more convenient place with intelligence. 231 public work offices within the city hall will provide citizens with fast and free Wi-Fi connection at the speed of 1Mbps, which can be accessed after free registration called “New Taipei” with signs showing “New Taipei” or “iTaiwan” in the city.

 

People who are interested should log on to http://wifi.ntpc.gov.tw/ for the information on how to register via cell phones, a “New Taipei” account will be available for anyone who accesses in areas with the sign “New Taipei”. In addition, other devices such as smart phones, laptops, flat computers and so on can be used to get connected using the service. More information can be found at http://wifi.ntpc.gov.tw/

 

The Chief of Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission of New Taipei City Wu Zamin says getting connection to wherever you go has become a trend these days, so it comes as no surprise to see that several digital devices are getting more popular. Therefore, the “New Taipei” free Wi-Fi service is expected to bring more convenience to the public. This service is available at 29 District Service Centers, 37 Local Registration Offices, 9 Land Economic Offices, 10 Taxation Centers, 29 Health Centers, and in all City hospitals, libraries, museums, and other tourist centers in the city. Besides, “New Taipei” account can be shared with others such as “iTaiwan” and “TPE-Free” in Taipei City to which all can be accessed for connection.


Mr. Wang, who often frequents Banchiao, New Taipei City for business, also says that it’s been one of his wishes to have such convenience because it makes the city more international and accessible to get all the resources. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu also adds that so far only 231 indoor office areas have such service, and more places including several tourist spots will be available in the future. It wouldn’t be long before New Taipei City becomes a digital place with better welfare and convenience.
