Mayor Chu thanks volunteer police for maintaining city order

New Taipei City Mayor, Eric Chu, attends the “Diligence Award” ceremony, honoring New Taipei City’s Volunteer Police Force. The Mayor thanks the Volunteer Police persons for their effort and sacrifice and reaffirms their contribution to the city’s order and safety.

Mayor says that Volunteer Police persons sacrifice their personal time to ensure public order and citizen safety. Many volunteers are generational, the mayor continues, where the descendants of Volunteer Police persons often join the force themselves. The Mayor also expresses gratitude to the family members of Volunteer Police persons for their support. He asks the ceremony attendees to continue working for the order and safety of the citizens and of the city.

The Police Department reports that New Taipei City is populous and extensive in land coverage; maintaining order and safety under such conditions can be strenuous for the police department. The Volunteer Police Force is one of strongest allies of the police department in this regard. These volunteers use the time outside of their primary occupation to aid in maintaining order and safety. They help with police patrols and assist everyday residents. They stand together with the police as local guardians.

The Police Department indicates the “Diligence Award” is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Volunteer Police personnel. The award symbolizes “True Heart” and “True Diligence”, and it honors and encourages these hard-working volunteers. Tonight’s award ceremony recognizes 94 awardees, who are the most outstanding volunteer from each local station and who are chosen from a total of 4,450 Volunteer Police persons.
