 Yonghe Senior Citizen’s Day: seniors enjoy free haircut, perm, and health diagnostic

The annual “Free Haircut, Perm, and Health Check” event was held today at Yonghe’s Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. New Taipei City mayor, Eric Chu, was in attendance to help celebrate seniors’ birthdays and participate in the activities. During his speech, the mayor says that he wishes the seniors good health everyday.

Mayor Chu says that every year during Senior Citizen’s Day, the Yonghe District holds the event of providing seniors with haircuts, perms, and health checkups. Mayor notes that there are many seniors who seems rejuvenated after the services. The health check up, the mayor notes, aims to improve seniors’ physical condition and to educate the senior on daily regimens that can help to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The Mayor continues that every time he attends this community event, he carries a thankful heart. He expresses the great respect for the seniors and appreciation for all of the community organizations participating in the event. Under the leadership of the Woman’s association, groups from other New Taipei City districts were very proactive in helping to organize this event. The mayor hopes that this great event will continue on year after year and more and more seniors will be able to participate.

The “Free Haircut, Perm, and Health Check” event was organized by the Office of New Taipei City Representative—Hongyuan Chen, Yonghe Woman’s Association, and Mandu Salon Yonghe Branch. In total, 65 organizations and sponsors joined in the effort, and over 800 seniors were in attendance. Three of the seniors aged over 100 with the oldest senior being 102.

Other than Mayor Chu, other guests in attendance include Vice President of the Legislative Yuan—Xiuzhu Hong, and Legislator—Defu Lin. The organizers arranged for the guests to participate in the birthday celebration of seniors 80 and above and for the guest to provide messages to seniors 90 and above. The seniors appeared relaxed and joyful after the messages, and they thanked the organizers for their attentive arrangements.
