Tamsui welcomes its first diamond class green campus building

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu (2/12) performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus building of Xinshi Elementary School. The building is awarded the prestigious Diamond Class Green Building Status and part of the new Tamsui District town planning, in which the constructions of Tamsui Distrcit Administration Center and National Sports Center will follow suit respectively in February and June.

At the ceremony, 49 pieces of awarded drawings for last year’s drawing competition-themed “Creating a Happy Green Campus Building”-were on display for another round of “Most Popular Award” competition.

In his ceremonial speech, Mayor Chu expressed his determination to improve Xinshi Elementary School both hardware-wise and software-wise as well as its neighboring constructions; construction of the long-wanted National Sports Center is now brought forward in time from November to June, and the construction of Tamsui District Administration Center will begin on February 24th. The administration center upon completion can incorporate the home, land, and household administration functions, providing convenience to citizens and further facilitating administration efficiency. He also called on the contractors to take their responsibility of maintaining clean and neat surrounding environments for their construction lands, or the public interest can be at stack.

Mayor Chu further pointed out that the three alluded public constructions, invested a total of $2 billion, indicate New Taipei City Government’s high regard for the Tamsui District. He promised to expedite the construction of Xinshi Elementary School through stringent supervision of the contractors, envisioning it becomes the greatest green building, educational center, and an inspiration for other schools in northern Taiwan.

Xinshi Elementary School, the first school in northern Taiwan awarded the Diamond Class Green Building Status by the Interior Ministry, is expected to be finished by August, 2013. The school will host 3 kindergarten classes and 30 elementary school classes.
