CCAT and New Taipei City Government plan the first domestic cloud computing indu

New Taipei City Government is planning the first domestic cloud computing industrial park, New Taipei Cloud Valley Park. Cloud Computing Association in Taiwan(CCAT) meet New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu at City Government (2/13), exchanging their visions and thoughts on cloud computing development and expressing their desire for a cooperation opportunity and inclination to station in New Taipei City.

 

The members of CCAT include Chunghwa Telecom, Microsoft, IBM, ITEL, Inventec, and over 110 other high-tech info-communication companies. Representatives attending the meeting today include Chairman of Board for Chunghwa Telecom, Chairman of Board for Inventec, and Chief of Cloud Computing Center, Industrial Technology Research Institute.

 

Mayor Chu explained that with the help of cloud computing all network-accessible devices, including smartphones, tablet computers, laptop computers, etc., can easily retrieve unlimited remote computing resource, exempting users from the purchase of expensive hardware and equipments and thus making future lives much more convenient. He also claimed with confidence that New Taipei City is best suit for developing cloud industry due to its cluster of 3534 relevant local firms with a total turnover of $205.3 billion.


As the Commissioner of Economic Development Department said, due to cloud computing development being the global trend of info-communication industry, most info-communication companies have ventured into cloud computing development; therefore, promoting the New Taipei Cloud Valley Park has become one of the most important objectives of the City Government. In addition, the establishments of Chunghwa Telecom IDC Park and Taipei Far East Telecom Park have already set the stage for New Taipei Cloud Valley Park, which completes the disposition of New Taipei City Cloud Industry.


The New Taipei Cloud Valley Plan will adopt the BOT model for its project financing. New Taipei City Government will offer counseling, subsidies, and successive allocations of 2-5 acre lands in Xinzhunag and Banqiao District to help the cloud industry take root in New Taipei City.
