City Government resolves to make the floodplain park more human friendly

The floodplain park in New Taipei City covers vast amount of green lands; in Xindian it even hosts a bikeway with cherry blossom trees growing aside. To encourage citizens to frequent the floodplain park for recreational activities, Water Resource Department of New Taipei City Government is re-examining traveling routes to the floodplain park for adjustment and improvement.

In their effort to improve the area, Water Resource Department has already coordinated with the Public Works Department and Department of Transportation to conduct a series of improvements. For example, Public Works Department already agreed to improve intersection walkways and establish wheelchair ramps at the left bank of Sunshine Bridge, and Department of Transportation will put up a “Beware of Pedestrians” sign on the signal pole at the crossroad under Zhong’ag Bridge. Additionally, 4 pedestrian overpasses are set up in the area to allow bikers and pedestrians to safely cross the roads. Bus stations are also set up around the floodplain area; the Wugu Gengliao Elementary School bus station is only 6 minutes on foot away from the park.

Confident that they have made the park much more accessible and human friendly, Water Resource Department of New Taipei City Government would like to welcome all citizens to visit the floodplain park to enjoy a moment of tranquility.
