Mayor Chu visited three Tu Di Gong shrines for prayers

February 2nd of the lunar calendar is the birthday of Tu Di Gong, or Earth God, according to Chinese folk religion. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu visited three Tu Di Gong temples successively to congratulate their birthdays and thank them for securing local peace and city administration development.

Mayor Chu first stopped at the Tu Di Gong Temple in Yonghe to make a prayer along with several legislators and councilors. He thanked the Tu Di Gong temple staff for aiding the local area and confessed his belief that Tu Di Gong always blesses those doing good deeds. The Tu Di Gong Temple in Yonghe is one of the oldest temples in Zhonghe-Younghe area, boasting 341 years of history. Although humbly located within an alley, the temple still hosts droves of worshippers everyday. The temple also established its own charity foundation for caring senior and underprivileged groups in local area, earning much reputation.

Mayor Chu then visited the biggest and tallest Tu Di Gong Temple – Zhounghe Nanshan Fude Temple. Greeted by worshippers at the temple, he also made his prayer and encouraged people to visit this religious place for tourism.

Finally, accompanied by several other city councilors, Mayor Chu arrived at the most expensive Tu Di Gong Temple in Taiwan – the Shenqiu Fude Temple in Banqiao District. He said he often visits this temple to make prayers and wished that Tu Di Gong can bless the New Taipei City for its prosperity.
