Mayor Chu tries out Sanxia street food

Accompanied by Legislator Wang Mingli, New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu visited the Sanxia Old Street to try out some local street food. In addition to “Golden Bull Horns”, the most famous local delicacy, there are many other authentic Taiwanese street foods for tourist to savor. Because of the sheer amount of gourmet food stands and restaurants in vast areas of New Taipei City, Mayor Chu recommended people to follow the monthly “Eat All Delicious Foods” magazine as the reference to find out all local delicacies within New2 Taipei City. He also strongly recommended tourists to visit the Sanxia Old Street for its street scenery full of exotic atmosphere, Qingshui Temple that boasts a hundred year of history, and local delicacies such as Golden Bull Horns and many other traditional street foods.


Mayor Chu first arrived at the “Hei-Bai-Qie Xiaochi Dian” - literally translated as “loosely chopped small eats restaurant” - to try out some of the restaurant’s famous dishes, including Soup Noodles, Golden Bamboo Shoots, and Boiled Goose. Mayor Chu especially loved the Golden Bamboo Shoots for its fresh and tender taste.


Mayor Chu later visited another restaurant, “Uncle Gu’s Hand-made Rice Flat Noodles”. In addition to its famous rice flat noodles, the restaurant’s dried noodles and boiled pork and pork skins are also gourmet’s favorite. Although it is neither weekend nor holiday, the restaurant is still bustling with customers.


After enjoying the delicious foods served by the two restaurants, Mayor Chu gave each of them his signature of endorsement as an act to recommend tourists to visit these two fine restaurants in Sanxia Old Streets.


Department of Economical Developments said that Sanxia Old Street is one of the major business development sites for New Taipei City. Besides facilitating local business associations, they further enhance its local food and merchandise marketing. They also publish 25000 copies of “Eat All Delicious Foods” magazine every month, which are often quickly sold out.
