Mayor Chu helps market Wanli crabs, the best crabs in Taiwan

Everyone that comes to Taiwan must try the Wanli crabs! In order to let more tourists and gourmets know the delicious taste of Wanli crab, New Taipei City Government today hosted a Wanli crab promotion activity to extend its brand popularity. Mayor of New Taipei City, Eric Chu said the No.1 crab in Taiwan is famous for its fleshy, juicy taste and wished the Wanli crab can achieve international popularity.

According to Mayor Chu, 80% of sea crabs production comes from Wanli, New Taipei City, creating an annual gross over 400 million NT dollars. Wanli crabs include flower crabs, three-spot crabs, and stone crabs. He would like to invite people to visit Guihou Fish Port during autumn, the prime season for Wanli crabs, to try out this local culinary sensation.

The Information Department has hired Professional designer Hsu Yungchin to design the brand logo for the Wanli crab. In addition, Information Department also hired a cinematic team to film a promotion short film in which elite culinary teams from Taiwan, Japan, and U.S.A. demonstrated their fine, creative crab recipes. The short film is expected to be on air in September. The on-line version will also be available on Youtube.

Special Facebook page has been made available to provide all kinds of information about Wanli crabs. You can find it at https://www.facebook.com/WanliCrab

In the following two months, New Taipei City Government would remarket Wanli as the sea crab fishing village and help fishermen in Wanli establish a fair marketing system. The government would also hire top chefs to develop various crab recipes in order to make the word “Wanli crab” become the newest successful brand in culinary world.
