Mayor Chu encourages lottery winners to donate money for charity

 2012 Lottery Winner Donation Ceremony is held by Taiwan Lottery Association, China Trust Charitable Foundation, and New Taipei City Government where the president of Taiwan Lottery Association She Shenchui donates 13.5 million dollars on behalf of all lottery winners to New Taipei City Government for future development. Mayor Chu hopes their contributions could be used to better the well-beings of the poor by encouraging more people to do the same.

 

The money will be used to buy four rehabilitation buses for citizens in Wanli, Genshan, Tamsui, and Shenge Districts, and 30 or more health clubs in 29 districts for the elderly for more comprehensive care along with entertainment services before 2014.

 

Social Bureau also adds that the top winner this time lives in New Taipei City where the flags hung outside the lottery shop appealed him to give it a try and later hit the jackpot with 654 million dollars. It is also encouraged that 40% of the money should be used for charity including supplements for social welfare, national health insurance and pension plans for the purpose of winning lotteries for doing charities in the future.
