New Taipei City Government launches the clean government mascot contest

New Taipei City Government today hosted the press conference for the clean government mascot contest. Mayor of New Taipei City, Eric Chu at the conference announced the start of the contest and invited people to vote for the mascot they think could best represent the honesty and integrity of the government.

Remarking on maintaining a clean government, Mayor Chu said probity education could teach government workers to adhere to discipline and as the result help the government to improve its efficiency. He also stressed it is important for government to work with private sector in order to instill the values of probity in the people at the fundamental stage.

According to Civil Service Ethics Office, the mascot contest has five candidates: “Liang-Zai”, a warm-hearted Sun; “Kui-Kui”, a happy and easy-going Sun flower; “Bi-Po”, a diligent bee; “Zhuo-Yue”, a woodpecker with a unbudging passion for justice; and “Zhu-Bao”, an honest and resilient bamboo trunk.

Out of the five mascot candidates, Mayor Chu voted for “Bi-Po”, the diligent bee holding a scale on his left hand and a sword on his right hand. While the scale symbolizes equality, the sword symbolizes justice.

Civil Service Ethics Office would like to welcome everyone to log on to its website to join the voting. There are even chances to win prizes such as XBOX360, GPS navigation system, etc.
