Cases in Banqiao Prosecutors Office decreased by mediation committee effort

The 2010 outstanding units and personnel award ceremony was hosted this afternoon (7/20) at first floor of New Taipei City Hall. Mayor Chu handed out various awards to mediation committees in honor of their effort. 32,000 plus mediation cases were processed last year, and about 25,000 of those cases were successfully mediated. That yields the success rate of 78% and New Taipei City will need the continuous effort from the mediation committee in the future.

The Mayor, local district court and prosecutor’s office all recognize the effort and result made by the mediation committee, and acknowledge them as loving nobles.

“The mediators are all credible, which make swimmingly mediation process and reduce cases in courts and prosecutor’s office.” says Chen You-Fu, head of Banqiao District Court “These saves tremendous judiciary resources and 22,000 out of 23,000 cases in 13 districts reached settlements after mediation, the settlement rate is admirable.”

The recipients of Mayor’s Award were Jiao-He Chairperson in Jinshan District with 10 years of services and 6 others. Jiao-He has expressed that there is no shortcut in mediating. Loving, caring and some extra time outside of work will usually result in settlement. She humbly said that although the cases numbers are less comparing to Banqiao District, but all received cases will be handled with complete effort and try to bring satisfactory result to both parties.

The outstanding units were divided into three categories. Banqiao District came in first place in first category, Taishan District was first in Second category, and Wulai District was first in the third category. Mayor Chu presented the awards by himself to appreciate the hard work and efforts by fellow colleagues.
