Mayor Chu presents the Excellent Apartment Awards

Mayor Chu today hosted the 2012 New Taipei City Excellent Apartment Award Ceremony and presented certificates, prizes to awardees. He said the intention of this award is to acknowledge the excellent management staffs of the apartments. Though the prize money for the award isn’t much, it is the honor given to all residents of the apartment that counts, Chu said.

The award competition is divided into four entry groups: communities acquiring apartment use permits before 1998, small communities (less than 150 households) acquiring use permits before 1999, medium-sized communities (150-299 households) acquiring use permit before 1999, and large communities (300 households and more) acquiring use permits before 1999.

Commissioner Gao said the purpose of this competition is to encourage self management of apartment residents. “Only if its members could actively participate in its management, a community could finally become a self-sustaining, mutually helping neighborhood,” said Gao.
