City Government tries to unify the water price

Mayor Chu addressed a few concerns from city councillors during the New Taipei City council meeting on Monday regarding water prices and retired civil servant year-end bonus.

Chu indicated that most of the water in the city come from Feitsui Reservoir, run by Taipei Water Department, and Shihmen Reservoir, managed by Taiwan Water Corporation; thus, the the prices of water are different. The city government had been working with the central government to unify the water prices between these two companies.

Chu said that residence in the city prefer to use water from Feitsui Reservoir due to a better quality. Although different reservoirs were responsible for different regions, water distribution might vary because of the inconsistency of water storage in each reservoir. “What we really care is to get a unified price as soon as possible” Chu said.

In regard to the year-end bonus for retired civil servant issue, Chu said that the city government would execute the new policy from the central government once they were informed.
