“A New Taipei Christmas in 2012” begins on December

 Deputy mayor Hou Yong-Yi held a press conference of “A New
Taipei Christmas in 2012” on 20th of November. The event will
last for a month and it will begin on 1st of December . Hou
indicate that the government raise the height of the tallest
Christmas tree from 33 meters to 35 meters in Taiwan this yea ,
and it used more than one hundred thousand LED bulbs than
added the star of Bethlehem on top of the tree.

Chen Guo-Jun, Director of Tourism and Travel Department
indicated that the total amount of 1,350,000 LED bulbs was
used. The lenth of cables being used lasted longer than
100,000 meters which were equivalent to 211 Taipei 101.

Lin Jie-You, Director of Government Information Office
dressed up as a news reporter to telecast the launching
ceremony of the Christmas tree on Citizens Plaza. Lin said
that the mascot: Christmas Teddy bear, would be a limited
award for people who participate checkpoint games.

In addition, for the parents who joined the event on the 1st
and 2nd of December with their new born baby who was
under 18 months could take a family picture at the scene.
The first 102 babies would get a special handmade bibs
from the New Taipei City government for free.

Several events were scheduled in December including
aboriginal concerts on 8th and 9th, dance performance by
“Water Refection Dance Ensemble", and “New Taipei
City Symphony Orchestra,” lead by Professor Liao
Jiahong. The Christmas Eve Party would bring the event
to climax. From December 28 to 30, the government had
planned a year end sale for citizens to shop.

New Taipei City government organized various activities,
and hoped that everyone could enjoy the Christmas and
have fun.
