Executive Yuan amended the Public Debt Act

Deputy Mayor Xu Zhi-Jian attended the amendment of the Public Debt Act in Executive Yuan on 22th of November. Xu said that the revises were unfair for the new special municipality such as New Taipei City, but he said he accept that.

Xu said that the people in New Taipei City were expected more public works, due to the large number of people and land scales. These public works needed plenty of money, and the 50 billion NT dollars debt space which given by the new draft seems not enough for this new restructured city.

According to the old Public Debt Act, New Taipei City had 80 billion NT dollars debt limit. It""s unfair for the new restructured cities such as New Taipei City and Tainan City compared to Taipei""s 500 billion and Kaohsiung""s 250 billion NT dollars.

In addition, the debt space that New Taipei City had was rated 2nd according to the Public Debt Act""s calculation of debt allocated parts by favorable indicators. Xu said that New Taipei City is the biggest city in Taiwan, and hoped the city could be classified as the first-class city and fight for more services and public works for the citizens.
