Mayor Chu Accredited the Selfless-dedication Volunteers

New Taipei City Government held the 12th anniversary celebration to award the first-aid volunteers on 24th of November. Mayor Eric Chu awarded the testimonials to the volunteers for their silent dedication to the city. Chu said the volunteers played a role as a rescue guardian whenever the emergencies and accidents occurred. The volunteers would able to dedicate themselves when the citizens needed protection.

Chu said that the first-aid group only had had 12 volunteers at the beginning, and the number of members were up to 428 after several years of development. This year New Taipei City continued to stay on the first place of the national rescue ranking. Chu hoped that by elevating the equipment and the skills of the emergency staffs, the rescue procedure could be performed efficiently on the emergency patients so that the patients might get a higher rate of survival in the future.

Chen Xingjin, the Speaker of the city council, also known as the captain of the volunteers, said that New Taipei City was populous and had the biggest scales of territory in the nation, so the rescue operations were much more harder than other cities. With a power of influence by the team members, the volunteering group has grown to over 400 volunteers and has been well-affirmed by the people in the city.

The first-aid volunteering group in New Taipei City was founded in 2000, and now the group contains 2 squadrons and 19 divisions. The number of the volunteers are the largest in Taiwan.

The reason the Fire Department held this event was to award the first-aid volunteers who assisted the rescue procedure, first-aid works and the CPR educational propaganda. The rescue staffs needed trainings to sharpen their skills, so those precious lives will be saved.
