Mayor Chu: Cut Costs, Save Budget, and No Wasting

 During the New Taipei City Council meeting on 27the of November, Mayor said the society hoped that the government could execute the policy of saving thoroughly since we were facing the economic downturn and financial difficulty in Taiwan. The government should cut down unnecessary costs and use the expense budgets wisely.

Chu said that the civil servants should think of the current economic situation and adjust their mindset accordingly when executing their duties and plans.

Chu noted that the quality of execution was more important than the quantity of execution, and requested all the city departments to reconsider the necessity of holding events, meetings and conferences using the "cut costs; save budgets" methodology.

In addition, Chu requested the Personnel Office of New Taipei City Government to carefully review the standard of recruiting and resourcing. He stated that excessive recruitment should be avoided, and the government should put themselves on resident""s shoe to understand citizen""s needs. Duties and business which belonged to former governments such as local and central government, should be now reorganized and restructured. It would increase the efficiency of services and fit the purpose of promoting the city into a special municipal level.

Chu also reminded that the civil servants should work as a team and ensure that good communications were kept in the organization.

Chu responded the issues of manpower adjustment. Some business and duties were reassigned to the local government and some were transferred to the central government. The city government should strictly review and examine all changes to minimize all costs and maximize productivity.
