The biggest Christmas event in Taiwan shines in New Taipei City

The biggest Christmas event in Taiwan, A Merry New Taipei Christmas in 2012, started on the 1st of December. Mayor Eric Chu and Speaker Chen Xingjin joined with the city government team and councilors to celebrate at the lighting ceremony. They lighted up the tallest 35-meters Christmas tree in Taiwan. The government planed out a series of events which would last for a month and welcomed the citizens to bring their family to enjoy the celebrations.

Chu said that the city""s Christmas topic this year was "Love Together." The decoration of the event in Xinban special district, New Taipei City used 1,350,000 LED bulbs with 100,000 meters of the cables which were expected to make more people surrounded in the atmosphere of love.

Speaker Chen Xingjin indicated that each year the increase in height of the tree symbolized the city""s improvements. In addition, he appreciated the citizen""s participation in the event with the bad weather.

After the lights turned on, the unparalleled LED Christmas tree stunned and amazed thousands of citizens by not only emitted the colorful lights, but also brought out the animation of snowflakes, Santa Claus and moose.

Several recreation facilities were set up on the Citizens Plaza, where was transformed into Santa Claus""s hometown with carousel, space shuttle, gingerbread house, and igloo. New Taipei City invites all the citizens to enjoy the series of events in this month""s celebration.
