Mayor Chu meets Xin-Jie Lin, player of IBAF 12U Baseball World Champion team

Mayor Chu met with New Taipei City player Xin-Jie Lin of Chinese Taipei IBAF 12U baseball team after winning the 1st world champion in the VIP room today (7/26). He recognized the accomplishment made by Lin and presented him with branded baseball equipments and glove while encouraging him to endeavor and excel. Mayor Chu expressed gratitude for Lin’s outstanding performance and winning the world champion in honor of our nation.

Baseball promotion is a bottom up process, and should start with baseball clubs in elementary schools to increase kids’ involvement with baseball, says Mayor Chu. Adding teams and increasing competitiveness will strengthen the overall strength of baseball in the country. He also expressed that continuity is important and the baseball transitions between children to adult should be seamless.

“I was also in love with baseball as a child, but chances to play baseball were rare,” says Mayor Chu. “As a Mayor, I will promote baseball to all youngsters and make them love the sport.”

“Chien-Ming Wang’s sinkers are nasty! And hopefully I will be playing in the Major League just like him in the future.” Xin-Jie Lin says “Zhi-Sheng Lin is my favorite domestic player, because he plays well on both side of the ball.” When asked if training are exhausting, Lin said no with definite tone and expressed his determination to work towards his dream.

Xin-Jie Lin played both pitcher and infielder (3rd Baseman) position in the games. He joined Guanghua Elementary School as a third grader and represented the school team well in the fourth grade. The team was runner up in 2010 New Taipei City Education Department tournament and 5th place in national junior baseball tournament (invited as national player).
