Tangyuan Festival warms the citizens in Jinhe Sport Park

 The 2012 Tangyuan Festival was held in Jinhe Sport Park on December 9. The citizens wore raincoats and joined the line to taste the delicious tangyuan despite the bad weather.

Mayor Eric Chu said that the Tangyuan Festival began last year and hoped the festival could not only show the Hakka culture, but also make the people know the meaning of tangyuan, which is having a reunion of our families and friends. New Taipei City had a diversity culture and rich culture resources owing that many people who found their jobs gathered around and lived in this beautiful city.

In addition, Chu blessed the citizens in Hakka, for satisfactorily and safely in life.

The delicious tangyuan was cooked in a two meter in diameter bowl, which attracted the people to gather around and take photos. Moreover, the event also had tangyuan-making activities as well as more than 65 Hakka food stand which could really make people had a great time.

Head chef Tu Zhengxiong of Hakka food gathered the assistants for help one week ago. He used 100 pounds of glutinous rice and made the 150-pound tangyuan for the citizens to taste. Tu said that besides the glutinous rice, Hakka Tangyuan needs some other ingredients to make it special, including red onions, shrimps and mushrooms.
