The 40,000th Dragon baby of New Taipei City was born in Banqiao District

The baby who was born in the Ke family on Sichuan Rd. Banqiao District became the 40,000th baby in New Taipei City. Mayor Eric Chu went to visit Ke family after the opening ceremony at Er Chong Public Daycare Center. Chu gave Ke NT$10,000 rewards, and he promised to give Ke’s baby Jie You the priority benefits on public childcare.

Mr. Ke and his wife Wang Rongyu got married last December, and gave birth to Jie on November 25, 2012. Ke took Jie to the Household Registration after a month, and it made Jie the 40,000th baby in New Taipei City.

Ke said that he was glad the Mayor would spend some time for a visit, and he didn’t miss a chance to ask for public childcare benefits for his son. Chu said that he had promised to give Jie the priority benefits after the Friday opening on Banqiao Da Guan Public Daycare Center.

New Taipei City has become the most new born city this year after the government released the policies on encouraging the citizens to give birth and on the public childcare.

Chu indicated that another reason why the birth rate is over 40,000 babies is the Dragon year, so it would be a challenge next year.

Mr. Ke was very happy his son had become the 40,000th baby in the city, and he considered having another baby.

Jiang Jun-ting, Director of Civil Affairs Department said that the government released many rewards on marriage and new born. Last time the number of new born babies reached 40,000 was also the Dragon year twelve years ago, with 44,924 new born babies.
