Banqiao Senior High School renamed as Municipal High School

 On December 26, New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu held the unveiling ceremony for the National Banqiao Senior High School, which was renamed as New Taipei Municipal Banqiao Senior High School.

Chu indicated that Banqiao Senior High School was named “Taipei County Banqiao Senior High” when founded in 1946, renamed as “Taiwan Provincial Banqiao Senior High School” in 1952, and renamed again as “National Banqiao Senior High School” in 2000.

Chu appreciated the outstanding performances by Banqiao High School, and he expected it not only to be a great example for the other high schools, but also bring up more talented student in the future.

Banqiao High School won the first place on 2011 High School Evaluation, and it made Banqiao High School the symbol high school in New Taipei. Several Distinguished Alumni graduated from Banqiao High School, such as former Taipei County Mayor Lin Zheng-feng, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Cheng Jian-ren, President of Foxconn Terry Gou, Chairman of Want Want Group Cai Yan-ming, Weather Anchor Ren Li-yu and Variety show host Dong Zhi-cheng.

Educational Department would raise the High School budgets form 2012’s NT$29,900,000 to 2013’s NT$42,550,000, and add more resources to the high schools in New Taipei.

Several people attended the event, such as Legislator Jiang Hui-zhen, Secretary-general of City Council Lin Xin-qin, City Council Wang Shu-hui, Lin Shui-shan, Zhang Hong-lu and Liao Yu-de.
