Qu You-nings To My Dear Granny will be released on January 18

 The movie ""To My Dear Granny"", directed by The Golden Bell Awards winner Qu You-ning, will be released on January 18.

New Taipei City Government held the special premiere for the movie ""To My Dear Granny"" in FZ Fifteen at 1pm on January 14. Mayor Eric Chu said that many people were raised by their grandparents and had even closer relationships to grandparents than their own parents, and that this movie, based on the stories from director and his grandma, could be another touching domestic film.

Qu had won the Golden Bell Awards for Best Directing from TV series ""In Time with You"", and this was his first time directing a movie. He indicated that the domestic films have become popular in recent years, and that he had learned some experience from such hit movies like ""You Are the Apple of My Eye"", a film also based on pure emotions and relationships. Zhang Xiu-yun, the 90 years old actress who debuted and played the grandma role in ""TMDG"", said that she had some wonderful time acting in the movie and hoped for more acting opportunities in the future.

 

Lawrence Ko, who played the role of grandson, said that he was the spokesman for the New Taipei City Film Festival last year and that he was glad to visit New Taipei again to participate in this special premiere. Actor Zhang Shi indicated that ""TMDG"" was the first movie he took part in ever since his father passed away, and he also announced that he will direct a new movie to publicize New Taipei City.

New Taipei City Government subsidized 4 million dollars to film TMDG, and 80% of the scenes were in New Taipei, including Zhong Yang New Vil. In Xindian District, Fuhe Market and Fuhe Bridge in Yonghe District, Funeral Parlor in Banqiao District, Hua Zhong Bridge in Zhonghe District, Wulin industrial area in Shulin District and The Queen""s Head in Yeliu. In addition, the special premiere also invited 30 seniors to see the touching movie.
