Mayor Chu is optimistic about the referendum on the 4th Nuclear Plant project

“I’m pretty optimistic about the referendum on the 4th Nuclear Plant”, New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu emphasized his position on February 25.

The referendum on the 4th Nuclear Plant project was released by the Executive Yuan. The EY indicated that the decision was made after the discussion with the President. Later that night, Chu accepted the interview by the media, “NTPC and EY had a full conversation before the decision”, Chu said. “The Nuclear Plant issue was not just a standpoint of a political party, but an issue that we all need to face.”

Moreover, Chu indicated that the previous referendum on the 4th NPP was the issue about whether to install the fuel rods or not. This time, the referendum by the Executive Yuan was about the existence of the 4th NPP.

The referendum is the symbol of democracy and through the rational discussion with the citizens; Chu hopes the referendum on the NPP end up well.

“No Safety, No Nuclear.”, the slogan of the NPP referendum, also represented the basic principle and demand on this nuclear project.
