NTPC is part of the IBM’s SCC project

 The Smarter Cities Challenge (SCC) which promoted by the IBM had selected NTPC as part of the project. The professional consulting group of IBM, NTPC government team, and the Police Department were gathered at city hall to work on the new project on March 11. The new project is about using the IBM’s new technologies to make the city safer and better.

To show respect and give a welcome to the foreign professional invitees, NTPC Mayor Eric Chu addressed the project meeting in English. Chu said that he was looking forward to build New Taipei City as a high-tech city, and it would bring efficient services to the citizens.

Chu indicated that NTPC was awarded ”the 2012 Smart21 Communities” on the ICF in October, 2011. Now the city has an opportunity to be part of the SCC project, and Chu believed that this cooperation can really make our city a better place.

Huang Huizhu, the president of IBM in Taiwan, indicated that the cooperation really showed the ambition and determination of the government. IBM had operated the plan to invest $50million in the 100 chosen cities. The idea is to take the technology into the city, and make the government, the traffic, the police and the environment better.

Avril Couper, the global consulting representative of IBM, indicated that this is the first time the entire group members visiting the NTPC, and she thinks the city had made a very great impression on its environment. The members of the group equipped with various skills come from several countries including the US, UK, and Canada.

In addition, the blueprint for the project was predicted to be done on March 29.
