NTPC opens the one and only Cat-bridge in Houtong

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu along with city councilors Yan Shixiong and Zhongren Dalusi attended the opening ceremony of Houtong Cat-bridge on March 30. It is believed that this bridge with the cat-looking design will soon become the new spotlight of Hontong’s tourist attractions.

Chu indicated that Houtong is not only the place with beautiful views, but also the place full of history and tourism value. NTPC government rebuilds the one and only Cat-bridge, hoping to attract more citizens.

The 60 meters long, and 2.5 meters wide Cat-bridge is located on the Vision Pavilion of Colliery Area, and several designs of the bridge was based on cats, including the cat ears on the entrance, and the cat footprints and jumping platform on the bridge. The friendly space makes cats become the master of the bridge.

The construction work of this Cat-bridge was not an easy task. Houtong Cat-bridge is the first bridge in the nation, constructing with multiple shapes, including 25 ring cross sections, 500 supported square tubes, and 750 steel aluminums, which makes it hard to construct.

Artist Li Hongxiang and illustrator Catophilia were participating in the design of the “Cat-Bus 808”. Several unique designs were set in the Cat-Bus, including the cat shape grip, and playing the cat ring tong when arrived at the destination.

In addition, NTPC government will promote a series events during spring break, for example the “Houtong tour event” and “Houtong finding treasures event”; the last one is the event that provides a guide map for citizens to collect 6 stamps in order to participate in the sweepstakes.
