The Songkran Festival celebrates in Zhonghe District

 The celebration of Songkran Festival was held in Huaxin St., New Taipei City Zhonghe District, on April 14. The event could experience not only the excitements of water splashing, but also the different cultures from Southeast Asia。

NTPC Mayor Eric Chu faced the water attack when he arrived at the scene. Chu indicated after the “attack” that the Songkran Festival was the custom of New Year in Southeast Asia; People splashed water to each other, hoping to splash away the troubles in the past, and welcoming new lucks in the upcoming year; Chu was pleased that the citizens splashed him with water, and he gave every citizens a great blessings of this year.

NTPC had more than 80,600 new residents which come from all over the world, and the children of these new residents are not included. About 10% of the residents lived in Zhonghe, and basically came from Burma. In addition, NTPC government hoped that the festival could make more people recognize the multicultural from other countries.

In response to the environmental protection and energy saving, three water-saving measures were announced during the event, such as limited water supply, water jetting regularly, and water recycling.
