2013 New Taipei City Film Festival opens at Mega City and Fuzhong 15

 2013 New Taipei City Film Festival-Window on Freedom was opened on May 3. The opening ceremony came with a cocktail party and an opening film “Face to Face”. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu along with other city government members all joined the opening ceremony.

This year the New Taipei City Film Festival used “Window on Freedom” as the main topic, which means the citizens could open their eyes to experience different worlds by watching these amazing films. Chu encouraged the citizens not only to enjoy the movies, but also to assist the development of film industries.

Chu noted that the government has been assisting the movie industries in recent years, and hoping to make NTPC as the center of the film industry. “We expected that the festival was not only to inspire some film makers to become extraordinary like Ang Lee, but also make the film industries well-developed in NTPC.”, Chu added.

The 2013 NTPC Film Festival will be showing 80 feature films and short films including 59 premieres, which comes from 33 areas or countries at Fuzhong 15 Films, Mega City, and Citizen Plaza.

Cultural Affairs Department indicated that the Film Festival will be arranging two Film Forums on May 5 and 11, inviting several directors from Lithuania, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China to share the diversity of creation in films. In addition, the outdoor movie theater will hold a movie event for three consecutive weeks, which begins on May 4.

Several members were participated in the opening ceremony, including Mayor Chu, Director of Culture Affairs Lin Qianqi, Curator Hong Hong and Zheng Binghong, Broad Director of Taiwan Film & Culture Association Huang Wenying, spokesperson Jian Manshu, Director Li Gang, Zhong Quan, Lithuania Director Romas Lileikis, and other film makers.
