Citizens should beware of the upcoming cloudburst

 New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Hou Youyi gathered several departments for a meeting on May 19, in order to face the upcoming cloudburst, which was estimated to occur from May 19 to 21.

The Weather Risk had forecast and analyse the upcoming cloudburst. With the effect of Huanan Cloud System and frontal systems, New Taipei was expected to face a heavy rain on May 20 and May 21.

Hou indicated that the natural disasters cannot be avoided, so it is relatively important to make a better prevention to minimize the damage; Hou also reminded each unit to pay more attention on the mountain areas which often caused mudslides.

Water Resources Department indicated that the government will set up a warning sign in floodway area, and hoping the citizens can move their vehicles to the higher grounds to prevent car flood damage. Several districts that can easily flood will receive the water pump, including Sanxia, Shulin, Tucheng, Taishan, and Tamsui.

In addition, Fire Department noted that during the cloudburst, citizens should stay away from rivers and streams, and those who live in the mountain areas should beware of the mudslide. It is recommended that citizens should stay tune on the weather reports and the government announcements for the early disaster preparedness.
