Fuzhong area sealed for celebration of Lunar Valentines Day

New Taipei City sealed several streets in Fuzhong area for celebration of Lunar Valentines Day (8/6). “Shout for Love” event was to gather hundreds of couples to kiss for minutes and filled the area with bliss. Mayor Eric Chu said that he will also seal the streets for next month’s Lunar Moon Festival and any other future holidays or celebrations. Fuzhong areas will soon become New Taipei City’s pedestrian’s only commercial area to facilitate tourism and economical development.

With the planning of Economic Development Department, local merchants and village chief’s, the street sealing event was one of the largest in history. Coffee tables, chairs, and photography zones were place on the intersection and with various performance like saxophone, magic, comic portrait drawing from street artists surely caught attentions from the public.

“Fuzhong area is right next to metro exit, and close to Banqiao Station where transportation is very convenient.” Says Mayor Chu “Residents that live near by can also choose to walk or bike to the area. Future regular sealing will create fantastic recreation atmostphere like Ginza and Akihabara in Japan.”

7 couples that are about to get married performed catwalk with their wedding gowns. Another hundred couples were also kissing in the area to make it an enjoyable Lunar Valentines Day.

Bands like “Cui Band”, “Regular Life” and “P!SCO” were invited to the event. Road bridges were decorated into “Magpie” bridge with ornaments like hearts, lights and birds to attract photographers. Bulletin boards were provided for couples to express their love for one another.
