New Taipei City Youth Baseball Team will be participating in the PONY World Seri
“Are you ready to win the championship?”, “YES!” shouted out by the members of the NPC Youth Baseball Team. The coach of the team expressed that the team is as already as ever. Mayor Chu met with the team and donated NTD.200,000 on behalf of New Taipei City on Tuesday morning before they head off to the 2011 PONY World Series that takes place on the 11th.
The Chinese Taipei team has once again earned an appearance in the PONY League World Series after a one-year absence. The Mayor is extremely confident in the team in clinching a championship this year.
The Mayor emphasized that reviving baseball has to start in schools. All softball teams no matter young or old, share equal importance. The National Youth Team that represents Taiwan this year mainly consists of students from New Taipei Municipal Er Chong Junior High.
The Baseball Coach of the Er Chong Junior High pointed out the physical condition, experience, discipline and great team chemistry of the Chinese Taipei Youth Team all contribute to the advantage of this excellent defensive team.
Coach Zong-Si Chen added that the team is full of potential national team pitchers with plenty of Youth Softball competition experiences.
As an old saying goes, “Know both your opponent and yourself ever victorious”. The team has continued to work on their weaknesses while fortify their strengths with intensive training sessions in preparation for the competition.
Total of 12 team members of the Chinese Taipei Youth representative team won the championship with four consecutive wins in the 2011 PONY LEAGUE Asia-Pacific Zone Competitions earlier this month in Chengdu, China said the Principal of the Er Chong Junior High. She believed that with concentration, discipline and team work the youth team should be able to show their full potentials in the upcooming games.
